Central Bureau of Investigation

The CBI is a company incorporated in 1941 Indian federal police authority. It is the Union represents and reports directly to the government. Comparable to it is with the American FBI or the German BKA.

Tasks

The federal structure of India requires that cases are essentially similar to the German states, established by the police authorities of the Federal States. The CBI particularly sensitive or nationally significant, transnational cases are transferred to the investigation.

The CBI is also the official coordination center in India for Interpol affairs. The former CBI Director P. C. Sharma was elected in October 2003 as Vice Director of Interpol. The reigning CBI director since 10 December 2005 Shri Vijay Shankar.
