Central Coast Mariners FC

The Central Coast Mariners FC ( also short The Mariners or The Coast) is a professional football club from Gosford, Australia. The club currently plays in the A-League, as one of three teams from New South Wales. The club was founded in 2004 at the start of the new A-League and is the first team from the Central Coast, which participates in a national competition.

In the first season 2005/ 06, the Mariners reached surprisingly the Grand Final of the A- League, but lost to Sydney FC. In the 2006/07 season it was enough then only for sixth place. 2007/ 08 drew the Mariners again in the Grand Final one, subject to time there but the Jets from neighboring Newcastle 0:1. In the 2012/13 season they reached again the Grand Final and won 2-0 against the Western Sydney Wanderers, making the club for the first time in their history have won the Australian Championship.

The team colors are dark blue and yellow.

Stadium

The Mariners play at Central Coast Stadium, which currently operates under the commercial name Bluetongue Stadium. The stadium has a capacity of 20,119 spectators. Most users ever in a game the Mariners is 19 238 spectators against the Newcastle United Jets in round 19 of season 2007/08.

The stadium is open at the narrow south side, allowing views of the bay there.
