After his departure in 1995 as a television writer from Melrose Place, he designed a new series concept without Aaron Spelling and shifted the venue on the east coast of America, to Manhattan on Central Park. Central Park West was thus born and filming began in Spring 1995.

The U.S. broadcaster CBS immediately ordered 13 episodes of the prime-time and felt confirmed when the pilot episode was the most watched show of the day. But even with the third episode plunged the audience from huge and CBS moved to nine episodes the emergency brake. Nevertheless, it held on to the series and ordered eight more episodes. The episodes 10-13 were not aired on CBS and it only returned in June 1996 with the remaining episodes, a change in the cast and the new short title CPW on the air back. But this time a flop was pre-programmed and CBS presented the series finally after a 21 episode.
