Central Statistical Agency (Ethiopia)

The Central Statistical Agency of Ethiopia ( Amharic የማዕከላዊ ስታቲስቲክስ ኤጀንሲ, English Central Statistical Agency of Ethiopia CSA) is an institution of the Ethiopian government to monitor the economic and social development of the country. She is responsible for data collection, analysis and dissemination of statistics.

The agency is headed, based in Addis Ababa of Directors-General. Director-General in 2007 Samia Zekaria.

The agency was founded in 1963 and was called to 1989 Central Statistical Office (CSO Central Statistical Office ). The CSO was subject first to 1964 the Ministry of Planning and Development, the Planning Commission. In 1972 she was re- established and placed under the then Planning Commission. As part of a restructuring, the CSO was transformed into the Central Statistical Agency on 9 March 1989, the Council of Ministers was responsible. The CSA is since 1996 part of the Ministry for Economic Development and Co-operation or, since 2001 the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development.

2006 recognized the Information Team of the World Bank, the CSA as the best state agency for statistical information in sub-Saharan Africa.
