Central Weather Bureau

The Central Weather Bureau (CWB; Chinese中央 气象 局) is the national weather service of the Republic of China. It is for the collection of meteorological, seismological and astronomical data, creating weather reports and forecasts and the publication of warnings typhoons, earthquakes and tsunamis responsible. The CWB is subordinate to the Ministry of Transport (中华民国 交通部). Its headquarters is in Taipei, beside it maintains a weather center for the south of Taiwan and 25 manned Beobachtugsstationen.

The CWB was established in 1945 under the direct control of the Executive Yuan in Chongqing, in 1949 it was transferred to the Government of the Republic of Taiwan.

When reports of the CWB earthquake used a variant of the seven-point intensity scale used until 1996 in Japan, the JMA.
