Centralia is a city in the south of the U.S. state of Illinois. The territory of the city is spread over four counties: Marion County, Clinton County, Washington County and Jefferson County. In 2000, Centralia had a total population of 14,136 inhabitants. The city was founded in 1856 on the site where the two original lines of the Illinois Central Railroad met.

Many well-known personalities were born in Centralia, including Morris Huck (7 March 1937), James Brady ( August 29, 1940 ) and Gary Gaetti (19 August 1958). The city is also home to the Kaskaskia College and is the venue for an annual hot air balloon festival; the ultimate feast could show about 40 hot air balloons.

Geography
