Centre Democrats (Denmark)

Centrum- Demokraterne (CD) dän. for Centre Democrats, formed from 1973 to 2008 a political party in Denmark.

History

The party was founded in 1973 by Erhard Jakobsen, of the Social Democrats took up to that time in the Folketing. The party was involved in both the center -right government in the years 1982-1988, as well as on the center-left government in the years 1993 to 1996.

In the general election in 2001 CD reached only 1.8 % of the vote and lost their parliamentary representation. In 2005 the party could win only 1.0% of the voters to support him. Even at the municipal election in 2005 she cut off badly. A Party therefore decided to dissolve itself on 1 February 2008 26 January 2008.

Elections to the European Parliament

1979 and 1984 could conquer a CD seat in the European Parliament, in 1989 even two seats. Erhard Jakobsen took the mandate to 1994 true, only interrupted by his time as Minister 1987/88, as Peter Duetoft nachrückte for him. The second deputy in the legislative period 1989-1994 was Frode Nør Christensen.
