Centre-Est Region

Centre- Est is one of 13 regions in the West African nation of Burkina Faso is divided administratively. Capital is Tenkodogo. The region lying to the south comprises 14,852 km ² area on the provinces Koulpélogo, Boulgou and Kouritenga and has 1,077,350 inhabitants ( January 2006). The two predominant ethnic groups are Bissa and Mossi. In Centre- Est are three classées Forestry; Sitenga, Ouilingaré and Sablogo.

On 23 July 2007 Siméon Sawadogo took over the governorship of Jacob Ouedraogo, who will assume his position as deputy in the national parliament after 30 months in office. Sawadogo is a teacher by profession and had held various positions in administration and politics.
