Centre Le Corbusier

The Centre Le Corbusier is a modern, designed by the architect Le Corbusier building and " total work of art " in Zurich. It is located on the eastern shore of Lake Zurich near the Zurich horn.

Built in the years 1964-1967 on behalf of the Swiss art collector and patron - Heidi Weber as a public exhibition hall Centre is the last ever built by Le Corbusier building. It is so far for a radical change of style of the Master, as it dispenses with concrete and stone, and instead consists entirely of colorful filigree despite its cubic design of steel and glass elements. A special accent is also clear of the actual Baukorpus floating roof, which is designed to protect equally the people from sun and rain.

Inside the Centre today the Heidi Weber Museum is housed in the life and work of Le Corbusier is documented. The totality of architecture, interiors, paintings and sculptures reflects the different facets of art and the creative will of its author in a unique way.

The Centre Le Corbusier was built on public land, to the city of Zurich ceded for 50 years in construction law to Heidi Weber. Therefore, the building goes into the possession of the city of Zurich as of May 2014.
