Centro di Documentazione Ebraica Contemporanea

The Centro di Documentazione Ebraica Contemporanea - CDEC ( Documentation Center of Jewish History ) is an independent institute in Milan (Italy ), are documented and archived in the historical and cultural events of the Jewish- Italian population.

This documentation center was established in 1955 by initiative of the Association of Jewish Youth in Italy ( Federazione Italiana Giovanile Ebraica ). After the 1957 Constitution established the Institute both anti -Semitic writings as well as documentary evidence of Jewish resistance are treated objectively and archived.

Since 1986, archivists and researchers volunteer in the Foundation Centro di Documentazione Ebraica Contemporanea. Since 2002, directs Michele Sarfatti this institution.

The historical center is an educational and research institution, which is divided into the following subject areas with specific interests:

  • Library
  • Video library
  • History Archives
  • Damage documentation
  • Teaching the Holocaust

Specifically, the historical archive, which cooperates with international foundations such as the Yad Vashem Institute in Jerusalem, is important for the mutual recognition of Nations.

The CDEC is also an official work site of the Austrian Holocaust Memorial Service.
