Cergy-Pontoise

Cergy -Pontoise is a commune composite ( Communauté d' agglomà ) in the French department of Val- d'Oise, approximately 30 km north- west of Paris, with about 183 430 (2003) inhabitants. The area is 7,774 ha

The municipal bond include Boisemont, Cergy, Courdimanche, Éragny, Jouy -le- Moutier, Menucourt, Neuville- sur- Oise, Osny, Pontoise, Puiseux- Pontoise, Saint- Ouen- l'Aumône and Vauréal.

The name comes from a bridge Pontoise (French Pont) over the river Oise. Council is based in Cergy.

Traffic Technically Cergy is connected to Paris by the A15 motorway, which in Cergy- Le Haut ends and there is continued as a national road N110 to Rouen. In addition, Cergy has 3 RER-/Transilien-SNCF-Bahnhöfe.

The place is home to the University of Cergy- Pontoise, with about 12,000 students.

The train station of Cergy -Saint -Christophe has the largest railway station clock in Europe.

From 1987 to 1991, the amusement park Mirapolis existed at Courdimanche.

The community is located just east of the composite Regional Natural Park Vexin français, associated with this, however, as a place of access.
