Cerro Bayo Complex

The Cerro Bayo is a complex volcano in northern Chile.

The time of the last eruption is unknown. In the southern part of the volcanic complex, there is a crater with a diameter of 800 meters. In recent northern part, along the border with Argentina, a smaller crater is located with a diameter of 400 meters and two lava flows, extending in northern and northeastern direction. From the 5,401 -meter-high main crater two dacitic lava flows, which spread out in a northerly direction and emerged in the recent phase of the eruptions of the volcano poured.
