Cerro Catedral ( German Cathedral Hill - pronunciation: [ ' sero kate'ðɾal ], also known as Cerro Cordillera ) is the highest point of Uruguay. The summit is at an altitude of 513.7 meters. It is located in the north of Maldonado departments and belongs to the hills of the Sierra Carapé.
History
By 1973, the Cerro de las Animas was with a height of 501 meters the highest point of Uruguay. This year, the " Servicio Militar Geográfico " again took measurements before and changed the altitude of Cerro Catedral to the now valid.
