The Chilean Airport Aeropuerto Internacional Cerro Moreno ( IATA: ANF, ICAO: SCFA ) is located a few kilometers north of the city of Antofagasta in northern Chile.

It serves as a transport and air freight airport. The Chilean Air Force Fuerza Aérea de Chile has stationed its 5th Air Brigade here. It lies 140 m above sea level. Its runway has a length of 2,600 m and a width of 50 m.

The airport has facilities for international police forces, immigration and customs services.

History

On September 10, 1945 approved the Dirección General de Aeronáutica de Chile the construction of the airport. The existing Aeródromo Cerro Moreno should be modernized. At the same time airports in Arica, Los Cerrillos, Temuco, Puerto Montt, and Punta Arenas Aysen were added to the program. The building cost a total of 30,000,000 Chilean pesos.

On 14 September 2000 the airport concession for 10 years was awarded to Aeropuerto Cerro Moreno Sociedad Concesionaria SA.

On 14 September 2001, the major rebuild of the airport began around 7,000 m² of new space are provided.
