Certosa di Pavia (comune)

Certosa di Pavia is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 5123 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the Province of Pavia in Lombardy. The community is located about 7 kilometers north- west of Pavia and about 24.5 kilometers south-southwest of Milan. The administrative headquarters is located in the district of Torre del Mangano

History

The eponymous monastery in the town was founded in 1396. The church in its present form was created in 1929 by the merger of today's districts and then independent municipalities Torre del Mangano, Torriano and Borgarello, the latter retired in 1958 again.

Traffic

Certosa di Pavia is a railway station on the Milan- Genoa. Through the village ( a regional road today ) of Genova leads the former Strada Statale 35 Giovi to Ponte Chiasso.
