Cervo, Liguria

Cervo is an Italian municipality with 1155 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) and is located on the eastern slope of the Gulf of Diano Marina on the Ligurian province of Imperia.

Infrastructure

Located on a mountain spur lies the old town, on the mountain side, had secured access through a castle, which now houses the town museum. The medieval old town is almost entirely pedestrian area due to the steep slope. Few roads can with small cars (mostly so-called Ape - " tricycles " ) are busy.

In contrast, the western and southern part of the three -square-mile village through which the well-known since ancient Via Aurelia coast road leads.

Cervo heard as a car-free city with medieval fortresses to union I borghi più belli d' Italia ( the most beautiful villages in Italy ).

Today is Cervo, which between Andora (not to be confused with the tiny country of Andorra in the Pyrenees! ), And San Bartolomeo al Mare, especially for culture lovers and campers known: on the one hand for the various cultural events such as the International Festival of Chamber Music and on the other by his four campsites.

Cervo currently still has a train station ( Cervo and San Bartolomeo ). This is expected to be decommissioned in 2010, as well as the coast line which is mostly single track. Replaces the route by a new line in the hinterland, and the mostly is continuous double track in the tunnel. Nearest train station after completion of the new route, the station Diano San Pietro - be ( about 5-6 km).

The nearest motorway junction to the European Route 80 (A10 ) is located in the neighboring town of San Bartolomeo al Mare.

Attractions

On the less protected side of the mountain, the city is protected by an ancient castle, Castello di Clavesanas, which can be partly visited and in the City Museum is housed with changing exhibitions. In a reclassified and partially restored church of the old town today a gallery is housed.
