César Malan

Henri Abraham César Malan (* July 7, 1787 in Geneva, † 8 May 1864 in Vandœuvres, Canton of Geneva ) was a teacher, reformed pastor and composer of hymns.

Malan came from an early 18th century immigrated to Geneva Huguenot family. Under the influence of the Geneva revivalist movement of the Reveil he founded in 1820 strictly Calvinist Church of the testimony and worked through evangelistic tracts and songs to the Netherlands, England, Wales (about as a composer of the anthem ' Dyma Geidwad I'r Colledig ') and to the Waldenses.

From Malan comes the melody of the hymn Harre, my soul, the Lord tarry (EC 623 Württ. ).
