Cesare Ciardi
Cesare Ciardi ( born June 1818 in Prato, † 1877 in Saint Petersburg ) was an Italian flautist and composer.
Life
A native of Tuscany, moved Cesare Ciardi 1853 to Russia. There he became a professor at the Conservatory of St. Petersburg and was professor of flute Tchaikovsky. He also was principal flutist of the Imperial Opera in St. Petersburg ( according to Ciardi's death was Ernesto Köhler his successor ). Ciardi was versatile and also a sculptor and caricaturist.
Work
Ciardi wrote numerous studies and solo pieces for flute. Its Carnaval russe for flute and piano is played ( in the orchestral version ) to this day occasionally.
