Cesare Romiti

Cesare Romiti (* June 24, 1923 in Rome ) is an Italian former CEO of Fiat.

Cesare Romiti came in the 1920s in modest circumstances in Rome to the world and studied for his schooling at the University of Rome economics. After studying Romiti first worked in the banking sector, but switched in 1947 to the chemical group Snia BPD, where he rose to become chief financial officer and vice president. After his time as CEO of the airline Alitalia, he came to Fiat in 1974. Romiti rose in 1976 on the sole responsible Director General. Following the resignation of Vittorio Ghidella, the head of the car division of Fiat, he became later also its function.

1998 left Romiti Fiat and became president of RCS Media Group. Mid -2000s to Romiti withdrew from the operating business life and is now active as chairman of the Italy - China Foundation. In 2000 Romiti was convicted by an Italian court to eleven months in prison, because it had come to his time as Fiat CEO to financial irregularities. The sentence was lifted in 2009.
