Hrad Cesky Sternberk (castle Cesky Sternberg )

The Český Šternberk Castle ( Czech Sternberg ) is located in Český Šternberk on a massive rocky outcrop in the valley of the river Sázava, about 40 kilometers southeast of Prague.

The castle was built in 1241 by Zdeslav Divišov, who described himself as the completion and reference of the castle as Zdeslav von Sternberg. The castle is located since 1241, with two interruptions ( 1712-1841 and 1949-1991 ) the property of the Counts Sternberg family. Current owners of the castle is Zdeněk ( Zdenko ) Sternberg, who lives in the castle with his family.

Český Šternberk was built in early Gothic style. Český Šternberk was one of the first castles in Bohemia, which were built in massive construction of stone. In 1467, the castle was by troops from Georg von Podiebrad, King of Bohemia, conquered and destroyed. There was a reconstruction of the castle in the late Gothic style. The last major renovation, the Baroque style of some interiors, took place in the 17th century. Beginning of the 20th century, various technical facilities ( water supply, bathroom, central heating, electrification, etc.) have been incorporated into the castle.
