Castle Cetin

The ruins Cetin ( German outdated Czettin ) is located in the municipality Cetin degree, in Croatia. Cetin was in the Middle Ages in the possession of the Croatian noble family Frankopan. Ivan Francopan Cetinski died in 1493 in the Battle of Krbava field. His son Franjo Francopan ( Hung, Ferenc Frangepán ) was Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Kalocsa - Kecskemét and Bishop of the Archdiocese of Eger. On January 1, 1527, the Croatian Sabor in Cetin Ferdinand I of Habsburg elected to the Croatian king. From the 16th to the 19th century belonged to the military Cetin border. In the Turkish wars the castle was badly damaged. In the 19th century Cetin was abandoned by its inhabitants and the jurisdiction was transferred to the nearby Cetin degrees.
