The Cetiosauridae are basal Sauropoda who lived from Lower Jurassic to Upper Jurassic. They had a massive body, a relatively short tail and relatively heavy bone. The Cetiosauridae include Chebsaurus, Amygdalodon, Volkheimeria, Patagosaurus, possibly Haplocanthosaurus and Cetiosaurus.
Late forms of Cetiosauridae vary greatly in the proportions of the body, neck and tail. Skull and teeth are also greatly different. Therefore, it is believed that among them may be the root of the Sauropodentaxa the Late Jurassic and the Cretaceous, the Diplodocidae, the Brachiosauridae and Titanosauridae are. Therefore, the Cetiosauridae regarded as paraphyletic.
