CF Industries is a manufacturer and distributor of fertilizers, based in Deerfield, near Chicago. The company is a subsidiary of CF Industries Holdings and produces nitrogen and phosphate fertilizers.

History

The company was founded in 1946 as a fertilizer dealer for regional agricultural companies. The company expanded its sales and began the production of fertilizers. 2005 saw the IPO of CF Industries Holdings, Inc. on the New York Stock Exchange. In March 2010, the company Terra Industries for 0.0953 of its own shares and $ 37.15 in cash per acquired Terra Industries share. Overall, CF Industries paid 4.7 billion U.S. dollars.
