CGMS-A

CGMS -A ( Copy Generation Management System - Analog) is a method of CGMS data along with analog (image) to transfer signal information about DRM authorization levels.

CGMS is a copy protection mechanism, which allows only the making of a generation of copies of a sales piece, such as DVDs. This is achieved by the fact that additional information is stored on the disk, showing which parts of the content of the disk may be copied as often. For CGMS -A DVD player adds its analog video output at this CGMS data that recognizes the DVD recorder and the CGMS bit answered by saying that he is in derogation of a recording.

The blanking interval of the video signal used to transmit the information with signal levels, whether and to what extent a record of the image signal is possible - It is analogous - as with Macrovision or teletext. The position, intensity and polarity of the pulses for the CGMS -A is defined such that it works both SDTV and HDTV image transfer and is largely compatible with the above-mentioned waveforms.
