Province

Chachoengsao ( Thai ฉะเชิงเทรา, pronunciation: t͡ɕ àt͡ɕ ʰ ʰ ɤ ː Nsaw ) is the capital of the province of Chachoengsao. The Chachoengsao province is located in the eastern region of central Thailand, east of the capital Bangkok. Chachoengsao is also the capital of the district ( Amphoe ) Mueang Chachoengsao.

The official name of the city is Chachoengsao, while residents of their city Paed Riu ( แปดริ้ว - "Eight strips " ) call.

Geography

Chachoengsao is located on Maenam Bang Pakong, which flows 24 km downstream in the Gulf of Thailand. The city is located about 100 kilometers east of Bangkok.

The main water resources of the district are the Maenam Bang Pakong ( Bang Pakong River - ) and the Khlong (canal) Nakhon Nueang Khet.

Economic importance and

Rice cultivation is the main source of income of the surrounding countryside, but in addition also the cultivation of sugar beets, soybeans and grain and the rearing of shrimp and crab. Increasingly, however, settles on industry, partly outsourced from nearby Bangkok. Ekarat and Bangkok Solar leave here finished photovoltaic modules.

History

The city was founded by King Maha Chakkraphat in the year 1549. Recruits were here at that time trained for military service.

Attractions

  • Wat Sothon Wararam Woravihan - Buddhist temple ( wat ) on the west bank of the Maenam Bang Pakong, about 2 km south of the city center. It dates from the Ayutthaya period and houses a very revered gilded Buddha statue in Meditationspose called Luang Po Sothon. It measures about 1.65 meters from knee to knee and is about 1.98 meters high. Since 1999, the plant will be carefully restored. Noteworthy is the 84 m high white ubosot which is visible from afar.
