Chad Channing

Chad Channing ( born January 31, 1967) is an American drummer and was from 1988 a member of the grunge band Nirvana. In 1990, he was replaced by Dave Grohl and has since played for various other bands.

Life

Since his father was a radio DJ, Chad Channing came early into contact with music. His musical career began as a result of an accident at the sports hall in which his upper left thigh bone was injured. Since he was unable to continue to play sports, his parents gave him a red bass guitar, which he quickly mastered well. After he was able to use his legs again, his parents decided to buy him a used drums to exercise his leg muscles. Shortly thereafter, he began to jam with friends, began playing in clubs and became known in the Seattle area.

In 1987, Channing in the band Tic- Dolly -row, which is seen as a predecessor band of Soundgarden. At a concert by Malfunkshun he met in 1987 Kurt Cobain and Krist Novoselic. By Sub Pop, a regional record label, he then came in the same year as the drummer for Nirvana and adopted in 1989 together with Cobain and Novoselic on the first album Bleach, before he was replaced by Dave Grohl.

His last concert with Nirvana he gave on 14 May 1990 in Denver, followed him, for at least eight concerts, Dale Crover. Later he joined bands like The Methodists and Television intravenously. From 2001 he was active as a drummer in the band East Of The Equator, now he is the bass player in the band redband. As a solo artist he has recorded a demo with Jack Endino.

Work

The two - Nirvana drummer Grohl and Channing differed in many ways: Chad Channing was more technically savvy, drummed something besides the beat, used a double pedal and played, to the chagrin of his two bandmates, with little use of force. This led, inter alia, probably to his sacking, although the recordings for the album Nevermind were recorded by him very powerful and Dave Grohl to drum tracks nachspielte almost identical. Another problem was probably that Chad Channing wants to connect to the songwriting of the band by self-composed pieces.
