Chagulak Island

The shield volcano forming the island Chagulak Chagulak and is located in the central Aleutian Islands between Iceland and Yunaska Amukta Iceland.

The about four kilometers long and 1142 meters high volcano island was first described by Gavriil Andreevich Sarytschew as Ostrov Chugul. To avoid confusion with the same Chugul Iceland, the island was renamed in 1931 by the United States Geological Survey in Chagulak Iceland.

Much of the volcanic building is under water and Chagulak overlaps at its foot submarine with seven kilometers from neighboring volcano, Mount Amukta.
