Chai Prakan District

Amphoe Chai Prakan ( in Thai: อำเภอ ไชย ปราการ ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the northeastern province of Chiang Mai. The Chiang Mai province is located in the northern region of Thailand.

Geography

Neighboring districts are (from the south clockwise): Amphoe Phrao the Chiang Dao and Fang Chiang Mai province, and Mae Suai, Chiang Rai Province.

History

Chai Prakan was founded on 1 January 1988 as a sub-district ( King Amphoe ), consisting of four Tambon, which were cleaved from the circle catch. On July 4, 1994 Chai Prakan received the full Amphoe status.

Management

The circle is divided into four subdistricts (tambon ), which are further subdivided into 43 villages ( Muban ).

Chai Prakan has a small-town status ( thesaban tambon) and covers parts of tambon Pong Tam, Si Dong Yen and Nong Bua.

There are also three " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
