Chaim Menachem Rabin

Chaim Menachem Rabin ( born November 22, 1915 in Giessen, † 13 May 1996 Jerusalem) was a born in Germany Israeli Hebrew scholar and linguist. He was friends with Franz Baermann Steiner, among others. One focus of his research formed the text finds of Qumran. He was a professor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem for Hebrew and Semitic languages.

Chaim Rabin's interests ranged over all aspects of Hebrew linguistics, even to the Arabian, in particular translations of the ancient language of the Bible, the Dead Sea Scrolls and the detailed study of medieval manuscripts. He was chief editor of the edition of the Bible of the Hebrew University.

Rabin was also of influence on the published dictionary of modern Israel in Israeli language. For the training of Israeli translator he pioneered.

Rabin was a member of the Academy of the Hebrew Language was founded in 1953.
