Chainmail (game)

Chainmail (English Chain Armor ) was a fantasy tabletop game that first appeared in Guidon Games in 1971 and was later published by TSR.

The first, in 1971 produced Edition is one of the first sets of rules for fantasy battles. Although it was primarily a control system for battles with miniatures, created the Fantasy Supplement of Chainmail role play as a new form of social game.

Versions

Between 1971 and 1985 appeared in Chainmail rule 3 editions with different requirements:

1st Edition ( Guidon Games)

2nd Edition ( Guidon Games)

Development

In 1974 TSR published the first version of Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game, which essentially represents a further development of chain mail, but did not replace this as a game. As a tabletop control system for fantasy battles Chain mail was distributed to 1985 (most recently in the form of photocopies of the 8th ed ) further, but eventually replaced the same year by the game Battle System ( TSR).
