Chaloem Phra Kiat District, Buriram

Amphoe Phra Kiat Chaloem ( Thai: อำเภอ เฉลิมพระเกียรติ ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) of Buriram Province. The Buriram province is located in the northeast region of Thailand, the so-called Isaan.

Geography

Neighboring districts ( from east clockwise): Amphoe the Prakhon Chai, Lahan Sai Nang Rong and - all counties are located in the province of Buriram.

History

On 5 December 1996, the district Chaloem Phra Kiat was founded in Buriram by the Tambon Charoen Suk, Ta ​​Pek and Isan Khet Amphoe Nang Rong and the Tambon Thawon and Yai Amphoe Lahan Sai of Yaem Watthana were merged.

He is one of five counties in Thailand with the same name. All were founded on the same day to celebrate the 50th Jubilee of King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX. ).

Attractions

  • Prasat Hin Khao Phanom Rung ( ปราสาท หิน พนม รุ้ง ) - huge and very beautiful rock temple from the 12th century on a 400 meter high extinct volcanic cone with a magnificent view of the flat landscape to Cambodia; the system is called " Angkor Wats little brother ". A temple festival is held every April.

Management

The district Phra Kiat Chaloem is divided into five subdistricts (tambon ), which are further subdivided into 71 villages ( Muban ).

There are three small towns ( thesaban tambon) in the district:

  • Phanom Rung ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล พนม รุ้ง ) consists of almost the whole tambon Ta Pek and parts of the tambon Isan Khet,
  • Yaem Watthana Yai ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ยาย แย้ม วัฒนา ) consists of the whole tambon Yai Yaem Watthana,
  • Thawon ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ถาวร ) consists of the whole tambon Thawon.

There are also two " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations).
