Chaloem Rattanakosin National Park
The National Park Chaloem Rattanakosin ( Thai: อุทยานแห่งชาติ เฉลิม รัตนโกสินทร์ ) is a national park in the province ( Changwat ) Kanchanaburi in central Thailand.
History
The Chaloem Rattanakosin was opened in February 1980 as the 17th National Park.
Location
The National Park Chaloem Rattanakosin is 59 square kilometers the smallest of the national parks in the province of Kanchanaburi.
Topography
The area of the National Park is characterized by steep mountain slopes of sandstone, which are covered by evergreen rainforest. Here you can find not only numerous waterfalls and mysterious caves, but also the natural watershed of the river Mae Klong.
The highest elevation in the park is Khao Kam Phaeng ( Thai: ยอด เขา กำแพง ) with 1,260 meters, it houses the headwaters of the Mae Klong.
Climate
The average temperatures are 17 ° to 18 ° C in the cool season ( November to March) and 37 ° C in the warm season (April to June). Average fall 1146 mm of rain per year.
Fauna and Flora
The largest area of the park is covered by evergreen forest, part of which is also mixed forest and bamboo.
The fauna includes, for example, the Leopard, Banteng, Gaur and several species of monkeys. These 60 species of birds have been sighted.
