Chamber of Deputies of Uruguay

The Chamber of Deputies of Uruguay ( Cámara de Representantes ) is the lower house in the bicameral system of Uruguay, the Cámara de Senadores is the upper house. Both together are called Asamblea General.

In the House of Representatives 99 members are elected for five years after the proportional representation. It is located in the capital Montevideo in the Legislative Palace.

The Chair of the Chamber of Deputies follows a rotating system. Every year one of the elected representatives is elected by the members of the Chamber of Deputies in the office of President of the Chamber.
