The African Chambeshi ( Tschambesi ) is the source of the river Luapula and belongs to the current system of the Congo.

It is produced in the north of Zambia near the border with Tanzania. There lies the source of the Chambeshi between Lake Tanganyika and Lake Malawi. It flows through the Bangweulusümpfe to the southwest. There he fed as the most important river Luapula, the Luvua called later.

West of the city Isoka performs a pontoon bridge across the river.
