Chameleon is the fifth studio album by the band Helloween. It was released by EMI in 1993.

Music style

Helloween's fifth studio album Chameleon leads already geratenen with the predecessor Pink Bubbles Go Ape in totter band almost to the End of career: The song material has long stretches nothing with power metal or speed metal, the styles dominated the Helloween and for the band known was to do. There are besides some progressive rock elements influences from pop music and many other styles like classical, swing, country and gothic rock available. In addition, covering Helloween unusual instruments such as synthesizers, acoustic guitar, church organ and violin. The classical musician Stefan Pintev and Axel Bergstedt helped Helloween in these renovations. In addition, the Children's Choir of Hamburg Bach Orchestra participated in the recordings for the album.

Importance

The music is clearly heard the internal turmoil and disorientation of the group. The album was panned by fans and critics, almost without exception and is commonly referred to as the worst Helloween album. The tensions among the band members culminated in the fact that Ingo Schwichtenberg left the band before the tour in 1993. The reason was next to his drug use, the fact that he suffered from schizophrenia. As a session drummer Richie Abdel Nabi has been committed. The enthusiasm and the strong mutual integration of previous tours have given way, a fact that was reinforced by Michael Kiskes laryngitis during the European data. After the tour he also gets out, also dismisses EMI the band from their contract. With a new singer Andi Deris and drummer Uli Kusch, the band dares a musical beginning.
