Champ-de-Mars (Montreal)

A parade took place since the 1740s, on a land belonging to the Jesuits. In 1812, when the city walls were torn down, suggested the city authorities, behind the public buildings on the Rue Notre -Dame to build a patio in order to extend the existing parade ground. The site was used from 1899 as a marketplace, from the 1920s as parking area. Between 1986 and 1991, around 250 meter section of the city walls was uncovered and restored, with regard to the 350- year anniversary of the city designed to the green area to a park to.
