Champagne Krug

Krug champagne is a brand founded in Reims in 1843. The company was founded by Johann -Joseph Krug from Mainz and is now in the possession of luxury goods group LVMH. The company is managed by Rémi Krug Winemaker Eric Lebel and from.

Pitcher is in the production of about 500,000 bottles a year on traditional, almost artisanal production methods. The base wines of all vintages are aged in 35 -year-old barrels. The bottles are sold only when the wines are ready to drink. However, the manufacturer recommends to let the bottles rest after purchase for at least another year.

Are the wines fresh, the acid can be very hard; by a proper storage is the champagne over time rounder, softer and is expanding its distinctive flavors.

The mono- Cru - Champagne Krug Clos du Mesnil, a Blanc de Blancs from a single vineyard in Le Mesnil was brought for the first time from the harvest of the 1979 vintage on the market. Under the name " Clos d' Ambonnay " Krug offers a mono- cru champagne. It is a champagne that is made from 100 % Pinot Noir; the first vintage was in 1995, the second one will be in 1996. The offer price in restaurants is approximately € 4,500 per bottle.

  • La Grande Cuvée: represents the bulk of the production
  • Rosé: Rosé of the brand pitcher.
  • Millésimé: Vintage Champagne. The current volumes (2009) are the vintages 1998, 1996 and 1995.
  • Collection: Vintage Champagne, the rest very long on the yeast and thus very long stays fresh. Current vintage is the 1981's.
  • Clos du Mesnil: One of the few Champagne obtained from a single location. It grows in the 1.85 acre Clos du Mesnil in the town of Le Mesnil -sur- Oger. It is a Blanc de Blancs, so a vinified exclusively from Chardonnay grapes champagne. The volume of production is approximately 10,000 bottles per vintage.
  • Clos d' Ambonnay: The counterpart to the Clos du Mesnil; a pure Pinot Noir Champagne from a single location in Ambonnay.
