Champanges

Champ Anges is a commune in the French department of Haute- Savoie department in the Rhône-Alpes region.

Geography

Champ Anges is located on 710 m above sea level. Level, 6 km east of the town of Thonon -les- Bains ( straight line ). The village is located in the Chablais, a scenic location on the high plateau of the Pays de Gavot south of Lake Geneva and east of the Valley of Dranse, in the Savoy Alps.

The area of ​​3.71 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the high plateau in the central Chablais. The plateau falls slightly to the west. In the south, the boundary runs mostly along the Maravant, a short right side of the creek Dranse. The highest elevation of Champanges is 785 m above sea level. M. reached on the outskirts of Larringes.

To Champanges the hamlet hamlet of Saint -Martin belongs ( 743 m above sea level. M. ) on the eastern edge of the village. Neighboring communities of Champanges are Publier in the north, Larringes in the east, Féternes in the South and in the West Marin.

History

Champanges was first mentioned in the Middle Ages under the name Champengium. The long time very small village broke up in 1860 by Larringes and was an independent municipality.

The village church Saint -Martin was built in 1720 in the Baroque style.

Population
