Champigneulle

Champigneulle is a commune with 56 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Ardennes of the french region Champagne- Ardenne.

Since March 2001, Pierre Laurent- Chauvet mayor of the town, he was confirmed in the 2008 election until 2014 in office. The place belongs to the Communauté de communes Community French administration de l' Argonne Ardennaise.

The local church with a remarkable wooden cross of Christ is regarded as worth seeing.

Personalities

  • Karl Roos (1878-1940) has argued for the independence of Alsace. He was accused of espionage and this semi firing squad on February 7, 1940 in Champigneulle.
  • The painter François Desportes was born in 1661 in Champigneulle. He was at the court of Louis XIV and Louis XV. active and there portrayed their favorite animals. He is regarded as the founders of the animal portraiture. He died in 1743 in Paris.
