Champion Air

Champion Air was an American charter airline based in Bloomington, Minnesota.

History

The airline was originally founded in 1987 by the then MGM MIRAGE as MGM Grand Air and adopted in the same year the flight operations. It was followed by several owners and in 1995 flew the airline as Champion Air, which was the last Grand Holdings Inc.. 31 May 2008 Champion Air has ceased flight operations in, among other things due to the high oil price.

Destinations

Champion Air offered charter flights to eight destinations in the United States for sports teams and travel agencies, but also for the U.S. Defense Department. Among others, Las Vegas, Oklahoma City, Detroit and Denver served.

Fleet

Before hiring of flight operations, the fleet of Champion Air was as of March 2008, 16 aircraft:

  • 05 Boeing 727-200 with first- class seating, each with 56 seats
  • 11 Boeing 727-200 with economy class seats, each with 173 seats
