Champlin is a city in the U.S. state of Minnesota. It is located in the north of Hennepin County and has approximately 22,200 inhabitants.
Geography
Champlin is located approximately 23 kilometers northwest of downtown Minneapolis in the metropolitan area of Minneapolis -Saint Paul. The city is located on the Mississippi River, which is in the northeast of the city limits. According to the United States Census Bureau, the area of the city is 22.8 square miles, of which 1.0 square miles of water.
History
The first permanent settlement on the territory of today's Champlins was 1852. On May 11, 1858 Camplin Township was established. A year later, this was divided into two townships, the Champlin and Dayton Township.
Within the Champlin townships an independent Village was founded on 14 October 1946 in 1971 originated from Township and Village City Champlin. As in many other suburbs of the Twin Cities started in the second half of the 20th century, a strong population growth.

U.S. Highway 169 leads in a north-south direction by Champlin. Other nearby major roads are U.S. Highway 10 and 610, and six kilometers from Interstate 94
