Chana District

Amphoe Chana ( Thai: อำเภอ จะ นะ, Malai: Chenok ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the southeastern province of Songkhla. The Songkhla province in Southern Thailand is located on the coast of the Gulf of Thailand.

Geography

Neighboring districts and territories ( from east clockwise): Amphoe Thepha the Na Thawi, Sadao, Hat Yai, Na Mom and Mueang Songkhla. All Amphoe located in the province of Songkhla. To the northeast lies the Gulf of Thailand.

History

Chana was originally named after the central tambon Ban Na. In 1924 the name was changed by the government in Chana, to avoid confusion with the Amphoe Ban Na San in the province of Surat Thani.

Management

Amphoe Singhanakhon is divided into 14 subdistricts ( tambon), which further into 138 villages ( Muban ) are divided.

Chana ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล จะ นะ ) is also the name of a small town ( thesaban tambon) in the district, it consists of parts of the tambon Ban Na.

There are also 14 " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
