Chand Bibi

Chand Bibi (* 1550, † July 3, 1600 in Ahmednagar ), also known as Chand Khatun or Chand Sultana, was Regent of Bijapur ( 1580-90 ) and Regent of Ahmednagar ( 1596-99 ). Chand Bibi has become known for her courageous defense of Ahmednagar in 1596 and 1600 against the attacks of the Mughal Emperor Akbar. In the besieged city she was killed on July 3, 1600 by his own followers. Militarily, it was supported by Malik Ambar, who, for the Sultanate won the city that was conquered in 1600 by the Mughal back and her later succeeded as Regent. Chand Bibi was the daughter of Hussain Nizam Shah I of Ahmednagar and sister of Burhan -ul- Mulk, the Sultan of Ahmednagar. She was a polyglot, speaking, inter alia, Arabic, Persian, Turkish, Marathi and Kannada. They played music, played sitar and painted.
