Chanelle Scheepers

Chanelle Scheepers ( born March 23, 1984 in Pretoria) is a South African tennis player.

Career

Scheepers, who prefers to play on hard courts, so far won 12 singles and 20 doubles titles on the ITF Women's Circuit. 2009 she succeeded at the Australian Open for the first time jump into the main draw of a Grand Slam tournament. She lost her first round match against Dominika Cibulková with 0:6 and 0:6.

At the French Open 2010 Scheepers reached the main round as a qualifier and lost in the first round against Elena Dementieva with 1:6, 3:6. Previously, she defeated Mathilde Johansson 6-2, 6-4, Gisela Dulko 3:6, 6:3, 6:4 and Akgul Amanmuradova 6-3, 6-3.

On 24 September 2011 she finally won her first WTA title. In the final, she defeated Magdalena Guangzhou Rybáriková 6:2, 6:2. In May 2013, also her first doubles title followed on the WTA Tour: On the side of an 42- year old Japanese Kimiko Date - Krumm won in three sets which is considered the preparation for the French Open clay tournament of Strasbourg with a playoff victory over the Duo Black / Eraković.
