Chang'an Avenue
Chang'an Avenue (Chinese长安街, Pinyin Chang'an Jie ) is a main street of the Chinese capital Beijing.
History
The name is derived from Chang'an Chang'an, today's Xi'an, one of the historical capitals of China.
Through this road led the funeral procession for large Zhou Enlai, here find Militärparden place here also manifested the May Fourth Movement (1919) and the protests of June 1989.
Structures
The 2009 spread to ten lanes Avenue leads right past Tiananmen Square. Important buildings along this east-west axis are the Great Hall of the People, Zhongnanhai, several government buildings, the National Museum of China, the Center for the Performing Arts, Wangfujing, the large concert hall and the headquarters of the Chinese People's Bank.
