The nuclear power plant Changjiang is a building under construction nuclear power plant near the town of Haiwei in a circle Changjiang the island province Hainan in the south of the People's Republic of China.

History

The nuclear power plant Changjiang is being built as a joint project of the China National Nuclear Corporation ( CNNC ) and Huaneng Power International. The approval for the construction of the nuclear power plant was issued in July 2008 by the State Commission of Development and Reform of China. In December 2008, the first work began at the site.

The nuclear power plant is in the final stage consist of four pressurized water reactors of the Chinese type CNP -600 with an electrical output of 650 megawatts. It is built in two phases, in which two blocks are to be completed.

As a reference for the two blocks of the first phase are the blocks 2-1 and 2-2 of the Qinshan nuclear power plant. With the construction of Unit 1 began on 25 April 2010, he should go end of 2014. For commissioning of Unit 2 in 2015 is aimed at. The cost of the construction of the first two blocks will be 19 billion yuan, with more than 70 % of the equipment will be manufactured in China.

In the second phase, the construction of units 3 and 4 to be effected, a timetable for that purpose is not yet clear.
