Changuito

Changuito ( born January 18, 1948 in Casablanca (Havana ); actually José Luis Quintana ) is a Cuban percussionist. He was charged with eight years of professional musicians with, Havana Jazz Band ' headed by Tomás González. He played with his father, who was also a musician, with a young band la Pandilla de los Cabezas de Perros, and at the age of eleven, he joined the band in Cuba Mambo headed by Rolando García. This band played in Guanabacoa, near Havana, where Changuito lives today.

In 1969 he joined Los Van Van, with which he introduced the Songo, in which the combination of percussion instruments ( timbales, cowbells, wood blocks, electronic drums and cymbals ) and the impact technology are characteristic with their hands.

Changuito taught many famous percussionists like Giovanni Hidalgo and Karl Perazzo ( Santana ).
