Channel 21 (Germany)

Channel 21 (formerly RTL Shop ) is a German teleshopping channels. He broadcasts around the clock. It was started as a third teleshopping channel in Germany (after HSE24 and QVC ). One of the presenters was Walter Freiwald, originally at QVC, but also the RTL show The Price is co - moderated.

History

Produced by September 2006 at the Coloneum in Cologne. In summer 2006 a new broadcasting center with offices and studios were built in Hanover, which went on air on 1 October 2006. A reprint of the range should lead to win in addition to the previously rather male audience and female customers. Many new ranges and product lines form the skeleton in 2007. Construction and operation of the broadcast center was taken over by the RTL subsidiary Cologne Broadcasting Center ( CBC).

RTL Shop was part of the diversification strategy of the RTL Group, which had the goal to develop additional sources of revenue in addition to the traditional advertising customers.

On February 19, 2008 it was announced that the RTL RTL Shop would sell in the first half of 2008. Since launch in 2001, the station had been run every year despite the move from Cologne to Hanover and restructuring only losses. In the course of Walter Freiwald left the teleshopping channel in April 2008. The new owner is the investor group Aurelius AG from Munich. The goal of the Profitabiltität should be reached in the next few years.

On 1 January 2009, the gradual conversion of RTL Shop on Channel 21 began as the transmitter since 1 March 2009 which is officially known. On 1 January 2010 acquired the former managing director of the television channel VIVA, Michael Oplesch, with his first Centuere AG stake in Channel 21 from Aurelius AG.
