Channing Frye

Channing Frye Thomas ( born May 17, 1983 in White Plains, New York ) is an American professional basketball player who is active for the Phoenix Suns in the NBA. He plays the position of center. He grew up in Phoenix, Arizona and attended St. Mary's High School there.

Playing career

Frye played his rookie and his sophomore season with the New York Knicks. After his rookie season 2005-2006 he was elected to the 2005-06 NBA All- Rookie First Team. In 2007 he was transferred along with Steve Francis to the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for Zach Randolph, Fred Jones and Dan Dickau. On 14 July 2009 he signed as a free agent a 2 year contract for 3.8 million U.S. dollars at the Phoenix Suns, where he per the 2009/10 season average of 11.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.4 assists has recorded game. In summer 2010, he signed a contract extension of 5 years and $ 30 million.

During a routine examination prior to the 2012/13 season, a dilated cardiomyopathy was diagnosed with Frye. His other sporting career is thus uncertain.
