Chansonnier du Roy

The Manuscript du Roi or Chansonnier du Roi ( to German: König manuscript or Royal Songbook ) is a medieval French songs manuscript from the mid-13th century. It is archived as Manuscript Français 844 in the French National Library.

The manuscript includes more than 600 songs, which were largely composed between the late 12th century and early 13th century. Some were written by famous troubadours and Trouvèren, such as by Guiot de Dijon and Richard de Fournival, while others have been written anonymously. The principal of the song book was probably Charles I of Anjou.

Today, the state of preservation of the manuscript is bad. Some texts were lost or disappeared, yet it remains an important example of the music of the Middle Ages.
